As someone who was visited San Francisco in the 1970s and in the 2000s, that question is easy to answer:
1) Southern Pacific's headquarters on Market Street closed with merger into Union Pacific.
2) No more Western Pacific freight operations in the City.
3) CalTrain replaced Southern Pacific as the provider of the San Francisco - San Jose commute service.
4) The existing CalTrain depot headhouse is a great improvement over the mundane block structure built by SP when the Third & Townsend depot was demolished.
5) No more Twin Coach electric trolleybuses
6) The Clipper Card makes it much easier to use the many transit systems serving San Francisco and other Bay Area communities
7) No more Twin Coach electric trolley buses
8) No more SP NW2s, GP9s or SDP45s in San Francisco
9) Original Transbay Terminal demolished
10) San Francisco Railway museum opened up near the Embarcadero
