One of the finest war movies ever made, and a partially true, but well acted and directed highly dramatized story.

It is based upon a story about when a Free French Armored unit, under the command of Baron Rothchild, purportedly was directed to an abandoned Nazi "treasure train" of looted art out of Paris, fleeing the allied advance. Note, that all forms of autocratic or dictatorial political kleptocracies are really ultimately about theft, they usually only really differ in from who they will steal from, and how, that's a The story is that when they opened the cars, one of the first things they found was a painting looted from his estate in Bordeaux. His wife and children were murdered by the Nazi's.
