They have been experimenting with not using it to measure capacity. The Centrailia Power Plant
will be phased out soon as well, add the annual dam removals that have been done every year
for the last decade, the grid is nearing capacity (Columbia and Snake River dams are not permitted to operate at full capacity to set aside water flow for Salmon and navigation.)
Some frozen food plants are installing diesel stand by generators for operation during harvest
seasons as natural gas is at capacity as well for electrical generation. Rolling brown outs
are in your future.
