Can't remember the exact year, think it was 1996. The hot LA to Portland pig (formerly the LABRT,) was detoured at Albany and up the Westside Branch. Was quite a sight. Don't think they ever exceeded 30mph. The detour was very well photographed. There was quite a crowd following it. This was due to flooding around Aurora from the Pudding River, naybe the most aptly named river on the planet.
