It wasn't the TR management that didn't want to deal with the track issues, it was the City of Tacoma manager. He didn't want to spend any City funds to fix the Nisqually River Bridge when it washed out in 2006, either (FEMA pays 75%, State pays 12-1/2%, owner pays 12-1/2%). The bridge finally got repaired because Tom Murray put up his own money to convince the City manager to go forward with the project. The damage to the Morton line occurred right after the bridge work was done (2009) and that was all she wrote.
