As someone who's worked in Cole Valley recently, what I find amusing is that tent cities, open drug use and public dumping are exactly what the bleeding-heart hypocrites who have gentrified the area have asked for. But they do a very good job keeping the indigent confined to a narrow four block wide corridor along Haight.
I'll never forget seeing a "Kamala Harris For The People" campaign sign in the window of some upper-middle class white woman's house on Cole Sreet. Hard to get more out of touch than that. She should have gone over the hill and asked the locals along Mission and in the Tenderloin if Kamala Harris was "for the people".
