Lester IS on the former Northern Pacific line that runs through The Green River Watershed, which serves as Tacoma's main water supply.
The Milwaukee Road ran through The Cedar River Watershed, which serves as one of Seattle's water supplies, some 10 miles NORTH of the Green River. You can look it up on Google Earth; the distance from Palmer, WA ( on the ex - NP ) to Cedar Falls, WA ( former MILW, now part of Rattlesnake Lake State Park ) is appx. 11 miles.
The Green River flows West, Southwest, then Northwest into Puget Sound at Elliott Bay in Seattle's Harbor Island; the Green River changes names at the Seattle City Limits to become The Duwamish River.
The Cedar River flows West then Northwest into Lake Washington at Renton, behind the Boeing Plant.
