Espee's " Overland Mail trains # 21 & 22 were the last passenger trains to run across Northern Nevada in daylight hours. As such, they served as local transportation for residents, deadhead operating crews and railroad employees traveling " On The Pass." They frequently hauled deadhead passenger & express cars, as well as Espee Officials on inspection trips. More importantly, they carried the monthly company payroll to remote stations on The Overland Route.
