You must be kidding. Or trolling.

4014 failed before finishing 1/4 of it's first and only break-in trip and had to be towed back to Cheyenne. That trip was only a day or two before departure for Promontory, so there was little or no time to fix anything. Proves the falicy of setting deadlines long before knowing exactly what has to be done. Not to mention spending time and money on stuff that didn't need doing right away. Certainly not the only steam locomotive to have proved this point.

Ignorance and arrogance make a volatile brew.

4014 was in May, 2019 and was still in later 2019 visibly missing some parts, so it's "rebuild" isn't complete even yet.

It does not steam well and cannot hold 300 psi for very long when being even lightly worked. It has not been heavily worked since rebuild, and probably never will be.

There will always be new problems, as well as lingering old problems. That is just life in
the world of steam locomotives, and is in no way limited to 4014.
