Yep, speculating from 1000 miles away here too. It's just that I've seen railroads do amazing repair jobs in a short time. Granted, if the replacement has to be in kind, it'll probably take longer - perhaps some kind of shoofly trestle first to get the trains moving again? At least in AZ they probably won't need to deal with a lot of flowing water (except after a big thunderstorm). Wait a sec: is this the spot? [www.google.com]
