Friday, Sept 11. The fie activity at Train Mountain appears to be reduced. Good local reports are hard to get. Looking at the "fire overlay" on the map from CalTopo.com and comparing the extent of the fire to earlier this week the conclusion is that most of the remaining fie in the area is north of the TM property. The two cameras on Steiger Butte now show that a fire did go right through the transmitter site. A USFS truck did make it up there and that indicates that the road which is not visible to the cameras is passable. A good sign. The part of Train Mountain south of South Chiloquin Road is now open to members but the area to the north is still closed to entry by the fire fighters. Most of the track north of the road is expected to be in good condition but a mile or so is in the zone that burned and there are no reports on damage there as yet. The USFS was expected to use our camp ground for a crew but has not done so. Jeff
