Most coal plants are shutting down due to the low price of natural gas, which is a direct result of fracking and “drill baby drill”. Economics 101.

I’m not a fan of polluting the air with a bunch of nasty heavy metals and climate warming CO2. I’m also still leary of all the subsidies the coal industry is getting but that’s another story. If I have to pay a few cents more per kilowatt hour that’s a more than reasonable compromise for no more dirty coal.

There is/was nothing to stop a power company form doing the same with coal produced power.

We are seeing the results of climate change and the catastrophic weather events NOW due to the greed and selfishness that took place in the past.
