George V. DeLellis kept a folks working in LA by regularly outperforming West Colton on those performance metrics, and he was a great railroader, who had a purpose to his "dark" side, too. You did not want to be on the receiving end of one of Georges tantrums when you'd screwed up... GV "Delirious" was his other nickname... But, those other, more negative, performance measures Krebs was discussing seemed to occur less often, if George was watching, and chewing....
Were we ever that young, and railroading ever that much fun...?
