Depends where they originated, but most likely if they came in on the CB&Q they would have gone up the St. Charles Airline onto the IC's lakefront route and then headed South.

The only difference might be if they made a station stop, which would have been unlikely for a through train. It would be easy to pull into Union Station and then back out. Most likely they would have swapped engines & crews since they never ran though.
