The January 21st date stated earlier was incorrect. Due to severe winter weather the last run on the old line across Fairchild Air Force base took place on Dec 11th. We were unable to run the line for the next three weeks due to severe snow blockages at the BNSF interchange and the Fairchild gates.

EWG took over operation of the Geiger spur on January 8, 2009. The first run under EWG operation was an Airway Heights to Cheney turn on January 9. The second run was yesterday, Jan 15th, a turn to the Elizabeth siding just north of Geiger Jct. A westbound EWG train set out loads at the siding earlier that same day, and an eastbound 52 car "scoot" grain train picked up the empties later that evening.

Elizabeth siding will be used When Geiger spur service can be conveniently done with EWG trains. This saves considerable time and fuel for the Geiger Spur job. Such was the case yesterday.

GP7 1617 continues as the motive power for the Geiger Spur and I continue as the primary Engineer on this run. Except for weather related problems, the transition has been very smooth for the customers.
