How many of you self-appointed pundits quacking about the US "being behind" in high-speed rail recall the SST, the Concorde? R.S. McNamara ran the numbers, they didn't bode well, so he killed the US's effort. Talk about a hue and cry of "USA First", "Anything you can do the USA an do better", M_GAGA, and all that happy horse exhaust. He essentially saved the US aircraft industry.

Also keep in mind that 1) Japan won't buy Chinese-made train control systems -- remember that (Chinese) train which go out of control and fell of the elevated at speed? and 2) a lot of what we are spoon fed by the real and/or fake newsmedia about the razzle-dazzle of Chinese progress is that many of those spiffy new towns and cities, you see pix of are devoid of people, some for years, particularly the bedroom communities.
