No, the experience of the CAHSRA fiasco should not keep us from wanting and/or having decent first world rail passenger services, which can serve our observed transportation needs, when it can serve our travel needs in effective and efficient ways.
If your current girlfriend (and/or boyfriend...)gets drunk all of the time, runs up your credit card without telling you, and steals your car, you should not just give up girlfriends (and/or boyfriends).... But, you should end that destructive relationship with someone who is using you.... And maybe, you should just get a new girlfriend (and/or boyfriend, as the case applies...) that respects you, who can give you the love you really want, and might actually need?
I'm waiting on more details as to what this "vision" actually entails. This kind of "generic" political "happy talk" is just that. So I try not to take this kind of "generic" political blather that seriously.... The details do matter much more.... The failure to deal with the details, and blather on about the "vision", too often results in giant fiasco's like the CAHSRA....
