What is it about really stupid ideas, like BART ghettogauge, monorails, dingbat route schemes, that so attracts bureaucrats and machine politicians?

And you cannot even get trolley buses or streetcars on Geary Street, which enjoys a bonafide viable market for public transit. At least try double articulated buses.
