Perigueux is a good place to retire

Perigueux has a moderate climate similar to Eugene, Oregon, but without the heavy winter rains. 80 miles east of Bordeaux with frequent train service from the scenic region of hills and vineyards. Low crime and low housing costs in an area of renown gastronomy. Many British expats live in the Perigord and Dordogne regions, so English speaking services are available. But of course it is always wise to learn a functional level of the local language.
