I was always told it was visibility that is why SP and Weyerhaeuser both ordered the raised cab version. I have never seen one in person, but the photos with the original lower cab would raise question for the visibility argument.

Having ridden in Weyerhaeuser's 415 from Vail to South Bay many times, I will say that visibility was very good.
