Don Crerar and James Thompson the two mentioned are back on a refinery job near Wichita KS. Both working as Boilermakers. LU 34 does have a RR unit, but the boilermakers are not limited to only working for UP. And no, we are not talking about shipyards or such, we are talking about construction. They will ply their trade until they retire and possibly never work in a railroad setting again. Next job might be a power plant refit. With a retired boilermaker for a brother, his retirement is $83,300.00 a year Nothing to sneeze at. He worked with the tools all his life,(43 years.) Only downside was that he had to tramps so much. He was away from home most of his career chasing power plant and refineries most of his life.
