You gotta love the photo of Ackman and Harrison. The idea that railroading is more than profit centered and railroads had an obligation to serve the public is beyond their thinking. Ackman sold all of his CP stock and has moved on to takeover other corporations.Harriman carefully followed ICC and STB regulation. He devised an operating plan that took full advantage of deregulation and ran his railroads to maximize profit at the expense of providing service to any customers that didn't meet his profit threshold. PSR caught on with the other class 1s while railroads were making record profits.
