I only read the very beginning and the last paragraph to get a sense what the review was about.
The first paragraph opens with this:
"Travelers have only about three choices on how to get to different places… by auto, by air and by Amtrak."
What about Greyhound, and perhaps regional buses, like Bolt Bus (if that one is still around)? Maybe the truth is these travelers consider the bus too low class?
The second paragraph says AMTRAK paid their fare.
"Since we are press media, the home office of Amtrak in Washington, D. C. actually comp’ed our entire ride and dining from Kansas City to San Francisco and back so that we could see for ourselves and tell our thousands of readers about our Amtrak experience."
Wow, a free trip. How about some gratitude for that?
The final paragraph says this:
"One wonders why Amtrak is losing so much money every year and now we know why! Customer Service at Amtrak is something that is simply not there. And so much for their ‘Ride with Pride’ campaign. We will drive our automobile from now on."
Well, if AMTRAK is giving out free rides to bloggers, then that is one way to lose money. As a general rule, you get what you pay for. Amtrak is not the Orient Express and it will be a little rough around edges. I always enjoyed my Amtrak trips.
Oh well.
