San Rafael is very much opposed to the idea of trains that could be made long enough to block their downtown one-way streets.

A viaduct would solve that issue but at this juncture SF has evidently gone into a profound and committed decline as to not remain much of a magnet destination. Nor worth the investment of reaching anymore.

So SMART will stand as an expensive local prototype toy train layout. Kinda like the ferries but the ferries afford a more fun and scenic ride for affluent Marinites.
