Beaverton, Ore.; TriMet WES (Westside Express Service) DMU #1002 swings onto Lombard Street as it departs the Beaverton Transit Center on a test run Jan. 28, 2009. WES trains are the final days of testing before the official start of service Feb. 2.
The 1002 is one of three single-level DMUs built for TriMet by Colorado Railcar before its closure in December 2008. These cars, plus a cab-equipped trailer, will operate eight morning and eight afternoon rush hour round trips each weekday between the Portland suburbs of Beaverton and Wilsonville. Trains will operate every 30 minutes and take about 30 minutes to cover the 15-mile route, with three intermediate stops.
