At least now some of those who were going slow on projects for Mark One might be interested in finishing them. Thinking (for California) of Cal-P (Sacramento Locomotive Works - the screenshots are drool-inducing), perhaps a freeware Surfliner replacement or extension to Santa Barbara. With all due respect to those who put together the Santa Fe line between LA and Clovis (with some other pieces farther east - overall a massive and well-done job) there's a distinct lack of western UP/SP stuff (the payware Donner/Feather River/Tehachapi/Cajon-Palmdale lines, and freeware NWP Willits-Arcata as conspicuous exceptions).

Main problem I foresaw with the new MSTS was that I would need to buy a massively gaming computer to run it properly. The Budget wasn't looking forward to that. Those who want to keep running this sim, though, should probably invest in MS or other virtual machine software and keep their old OS disks because as we move deeper into a Vista and Win7 future the older software like Mark One will probably die in native mode.
