My experience with FedEx has usually been poor. Unreliable pickups, packages often delayed in route for unknown reasons, packages bouncing all over the country. I've never encounter as many issues with UPS as I have FedEx.
Our business does not recommend them to customers. If you have a FedEx account and want it shipped that way, we simply tell you when its ready for pickup and any delays from that point are your problem. too many bad experiences. Had one customer who paid for shipping FedEx to Japan & they didn't pick up for 4 days. Had to cal them even day, they'd promise and them not show up. We've done UPS overnight to Alaska much more reliably.
