Big deal. Going to the DMV was a pain in the s$$ at least as far back as Ronnie Popular Raygun's administration. Since them, plus ca change, plus c'est la mem-chose, including periodic campaign promises. Of course all campaign promises are always kept, regardless of party affiliation, aren't they? The DMV is an overworked guvmint bureaucracy, no different than the Post Office (or the IRS, or the Army, or the .. .. .. ). There are more registered autos in Calif alone than in all of Australia -- plus 5 million more people. You could get better services by hiring more bureaucrats (clerks), but then the fees to pay for them would go up. And we can't let that happen, can we?

Perhaps you're the type of guy Herbert Hoover complained about some 85 years ago: anyone from the pool of "common" citizens who has been elected automatically becomes paragon of superhuman perfection once in office. The thing is, they're "common" people too, complete with foibles. Expecting them suddenly to be come superheros (and super moral) upon winning office is a hero worship thing. It's not really all that far removed from writing Comrade Stalin to complain that you've been shipped off to the Gulag (he will set things right!!).

How long have you lived in Calif? I've lived here all my life, except for a tour in Vietnam.

BTW, I'm voting NO because the whole affair is stupid and silly; he has only about a year to go.
