I don't have a link for what you are asking, but another option for the change in gauge is changing stations. Cars with adjustable axles pass through so no need to transload. Europe is deploying these for freights now for some Spain-French traffic. Passenger trains have used this technology for years. I would think new intermodal cars and changing stations would be cheaper than converting the gauge on a long corridor.
