The SS San Mateo was arguably the most significant vessel retired by Washington State Ferries. Follow this link and go to the end of the site. It makes you cry. If the San Mateo couldn't be saved what chance do four pedestrian boats like the steel-electrics have?

You've got to applaud the guy who rescued the Kalakala from the mud in Alaska, but that restoration effort seems to have encountered hard times.
