Two F-units were in use on the San Joaquin the Saturday after Thanksgiving of 1976. They returned the next day, whether or not they ever worked the San Joaquins again, I don't know. Two F's hung around Oakland until early 1979 for steam on the Fun Train, #492 & #493 (ex SP 6453 and 6454).
