Of course Mouse babbles nonsense.

Of course the CAHSR grifters insists it is better to string wires Merced-Bakersfield and force everyone to change trains in Merced, rather than riding a through Bakersfield-Oakland/Sacramento diesel service.

The proposal is to start out with diesel service and electrification would happen in a later stage once funds are acquired. Maybe not until Bakersfield-LA is added.

125 mph to begin. 200 mph later. A reasonable compromise. True HSR would save 40 minutes Merced to Bakersfield Changing trains in Merced will eat up 10 to 15 minutes of that. Moving disabled and elderly passengers and those with luggage takes time. And schedule padding coming off the shared freight tracks southbound. Not worth all the extra billions until you can electrify to the Bay Area or LA.
