For a lot of the liberal, leftist Democrats living along the right-of-way, they probably won't have a problem with that. They feel sorry for all of the homeless and consider homeless encampments now part of the "new normal". In the L.A. area, most of the residents of the People's Republic of Santa Monica are so wacked out on liberalism and leftism that they just look the other way at all of the homeless detritus and subscribe to that "anything goes" attitude. They're probably wracked with "liberal guilt" and are ready to open their homes up to the homeless as part of this "equity" nonsense that is now the latest rage. Many of them are Marxists, or close to it, so they go with the "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" mindset.

> The bike riders and walkers won't be able to use it unless the Santa Cruz and other cities police forces keep the homeless out.

And we all know THAT will never happen in liberal, leftist California. The police now follow instructions from liberal, wacked out politicians like Libby Schaaf, the mayor of Oakland, who tips off illegal aliens before ICE makes raids, London Breed, mayor of San Francisco, and District Attorneys like Chesa Boudin and George Gascon, who have an aversion to bringing charges against anyone, unless, of course, they're Trump-supporting conservatives or parents who are concerned about what the public schools are teaching their children.
