I would think it depends on how much room you have for a layout.

Here's something that you could model that would be prototypically accurate. This was on the NdeM's old line (abandoned in the 1980s and replaced by a newer line) between Ajuno and Uruapan.

Remember that if you wanted to do it in HO it would require a lot more room than N scale. N scale has really improved over the years in the realism department.
