Agence France story on LOSSAN San Clemente that the loonies will just love.... But, contains interesting observations none the less...
Part of the Nixon association is a little loose...
And yes this will probably set the loonies frothing over the vast conspiracy to fake the weather data for the last ten thousand years, or measuring seal level for the last five hundred years or so. Why not, if it keeps them frothing and busy finding insecurity links...?
But the beach erosion issue here is also identified as a big part of the problem.
An interesting perspective by foreigners, with real rail passenger "systems" carrying "hundreds" of millions of annual rail passegners, view our quaint 1887 single track 25 mph. scenic train line. And on the 2nd busiest intercity rail corridor in the US, that only carries a mere 8.3 million annual passengers... Although there is a similar gorgeous section along the outer English channel in Brittany that is similar on which the TGV runs at relatively low speed.
And OMG, can you believe it, other professionals think we should consider a line inland where the geology is more stable, like they are doing down in Del Mar...?
And this bypass would also cut as much as 20-25 minuunning time between LA and SD off current schedules. This is not in the story, but how about getting average corridor speed up to 60 mph, and a two hour trip to San Diego, in this day and age?
