Cap and Trade is also the source of those credits that show up on your utility bills in California. If you get utility bills you get the credits.

Last year I got two $39 electric credits and a $48 gas credit. I only have a gas clothes dryer and I have solar. I have to pay about $15 a month as a connection fee and produced more electricity than I used. The result was a 2022 PG&E bill of less than $100.

Cap and trade causes the amount of greenhouse gases emitted to decline, but it does increase the cost of things in the short run. That is why a chunk of the incoming money is spread around to the consumers.
