Arizona Eastern Railway's 'Copper Spike' excursion train prepares to depart the Apache Gold Casino at Cutter, Az on March 22, 2009. GP35 2503 provides the power for this four-round-trips-per-day, push-pull operation over 10-miles of newly improved track between the former Southern Pacific depot in Globe and the casino. The seasonal operation is sponsored by a partnership between the City of Globe, Downtown Globe Main Street Organization, Arizona Eastern Railway, Apache Gold Casino and the San Carlos Apache Nation. (Note: The Copper Spike was previously operated in early 2006 using a loaned 1930-blt Brill Motor Car M-55.)
