Very nice picture DBA! Interesting that Freight motors would be used instead of Passenger motors.
Also, at the time you took this picture, the switch the 3rd car is passing over and the Signal next to it, was controlled by the SP Los Nietos Operator in the Depot not far from there. In less than a year after you took this picture, on November 25, 1985,the Board would be removed from the Depot and relocated to the old PE Building at 5th and Main St.in Downtown LA in the SP West End Dispatcher's Office.
Also, the track West of the Signal is now called the LA Habra Subdivision. All tracks East of the Signal is called the Los Nietos Subdivision.
The Balloon track that the Train is going onto is still there, but the Diamond the Train is crossing and the switch the 3rd car is on have been removed. The Signal is still there.
