To clarify a few points: in California it's against the law to use a helper on the rear end of a passenger train; on the head end it's OK. Push-pull is OK because the locomotive on the rear of the train is controlled from the head end. Technically, circus trains aren't "passenger trains". FWIW, usually business cars are designated as M/W equipment. Yes, the former SP Stanford has had its UC brakes replaced by ABDX, and the Sunset's D-24 system has also been replaced by ABDX (although I have no information on the status of the pink toilet seats).
