Influential? Had better be, and have backing money that's not already scheduled for much more feasible projects.

Much of the route can be followed in Google Maps (satellite view). It's in and surrounded by industrial sites, parks, bike paths, Foothill Expwy (was Foothill Blvd in the 1950s/early 60s when I used to ride with the family to picnics at Blackberry Farm on Stevens Creek Blvd; sometimes stopped at a German restaurant in Los Altos on the way home - don't remember the name - near the end of the tracks at that time), and covered by I-280 before it reaches the relic until recently used by the Permanente Local out of San Jose.

Building any kind of light rail line - with or without wires - through that mess is something only those with distorted dreams could seriously consider. There are MANY more feasible and useful options for use of uncommitted transit money, even in the Bay Area. Those who would serious consider or propose such a line probably *should* be "committed."
