Sandpoint depot is getting a cosmitic restoration on the side that will be facing the under-construction highway that bypasses downtown. You'll eventually be able to see it from about 20 feet away as you cruise by at 60 MPH. The east side of the building is in need of some repairs, but don't get any because of $$. Maybe if the residents of the new waterfront condos pitch in to eliminate a future "eyesore", that side will get a facelift too.
For folks visiting Sandpoint this summer who might not have seen it in awhile, you'll not recognise the old RR corridor or the Sand Creek marina watefront. All of the big trees are either gone or will be going. The tracks are now VERY visable from the trendy restaurant patios--but the price is that there is a lot of heavy construction going on in the foreground. Right now, it's UGLY with a capital U. Will be that way for a couple of years.
