Not that he really cares...? Let's all just pretend these are real questions about US/Canada rail service to Montreal...

Yes, I seem to recall an article on this recently in one of the rail pubs on increased services and connections from the NYC, the Connecticut Valley, and Boston directly to an from Montreal??? There are several proposals including extensions of Vermont services.

Aussie take the trip from Montreal to NYC on Amtrak-Youtube

Enjoy this beautiful trip, and take a look at some of the slow running, problems with customs and border crossings, and a clear need to improve that. There was mentioned in the recent article I recall, that if they ran three or more services to the US, that Customs and Boarder Enforcement and the Canadians could afford to open an enrty and exit border control at the Montreal Station (like we've all used in most major airports when traveling between the US and Canada).

If the question posed about some kind of overnight service between the US and Montreal was actually credible, I'd answer it this way. By noting that overnight services are a whole different kettle of fish. And noting that while we have seen some resurgence of private intercity overnight services recently in Europe (reversing a long slow decline of such services), the rental of private train operating space on publicly owned track in much of Europe, is a whole different can of worm when dealing with host roads.

And, I'd probably have to point out that while there are possibly some good potential overnight Amtrak markets, in most of today's potentially good cost/benefit, and/or "profitable" passenger rail corridors, this is not a lucrative use of car space for "butt miles" of transportation delivered at a marketable price than Brightline is looking at from LA to Vegas, or Orlando to Miami... Coaches simply carry more butts per car miles of operating costs, at more affordable prices, than selling sleeping compartments.

Let's all just imagine that this is really a railfan chat site where folks can have real conversations about our love of the various aspects of the many devious vast conspiracies involving those dastardly evil trains....
