I remember, back when I was involved with the group, that park ranger Sam Rich would quite often come around for the steam ups...but that's been well over a dozen years ago now and I'm sure he's either transferred or retired.

I stopped over in Eureka about a month ago, during the week before the logging festival. The Falk and the passenger flat had been taken down to the fairgrounds, but I did get to chat with one of the volunteers who came back to the enginehouse to pick up some things they needed. He did tell me that a boiler inspection conducted on the Gypsy this spring found several thin spots in the boiler shell, and that it is done for until it gets a new boiler (if ever).
