The Fremont and Elkhorn Valley Railroad (FEVR) was a 17 mile heritage Railroad in Fremont Nebraska and offered Excursions on the line. The FEVR line extended from Fremont NE to Hooper NE. It was originally built in 1869 as a part of a larger system the Fremont, Elkhorn and Missouri Valley Railroad (FE&MV) and was nicknamed the Cowboy Line. It was acquired by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway (CNW) in 1903. The Museum began operations in 1985 and ran up until 2012. The rail line sat dormant and slowly crossings on major highways were removed but the rail and line remained in place but overgrown. Now in 2021 the rails are being torn up for scrap. Here are a few shots from 8/2020 when things were sitting pretty much as they had since 2012 and now 6/2021 with much of the line completely torn up.
