It seems like an awful lot of idle long cars.

And yeah, the issue of lack of "resources" and/or "motivation" in getting a lot of this equipment repaired, upgraded, or rebuilt has always been a problem with Amtrak, as I can seem to recall that folks have been complaining about this issue for about 40 years or so...

Given the current demands on the long distance corridors, and the high fixed cost per train, with shorter than optimal trains, due to a lack of cars, it is sad to see long distance performance reduced by not having these extra "seats" available to sell...

We can't go back and fix forty years of failure, as Doc has not yet fixed the flux capacitor.

But, on Amtrak at least getting some of this equipment back in service, "hope springs eternal"...

Using some of the new Amtrak funding to do this, maybe by putting on more shifts, and making these kinds of efforts part of the executive "performance agreements", probably would help (and certainly wouldn't hurt...) with "resource" and "motivation" issues...
