Believe that when the SP agreed to restore dining and lounge service to the Sunset that it used Pride of Texas coffee shop-lounge cars rather than full dining and lounge cars. This was also when SP began running the sleeping cars at the front end of the train, which I suppose may have had something to do with the more elastic demand for coach accommodations, i.e. adding or subtracting cars from the rear end would be easier.
