City New Service MTA Ridership Gains-Pasadena Weekly
This is MTA patting itself on the back, for ridership gains since Covid...
Of course, this 950,000, or so, daily riders is only about 500,000 less daily riders than the nearly 1.5 million daily riders MTA carried in 2014, and is less than half of what SCRTD carried during the 1984 Olympics on a "bus only" system...
Safety and service issues remain big problems, and MTA still lacks a clear or coherent focus on basicslike security and operations, which have cause much of this loss.
While there has been a recognition of the safety and security issues, and some steps to improve safety and security, much of it has been a reactive response, and not as proactive as it should be.
The huge losses of daily riders because of the MTA's poor service problems (massive route cuts, service cuts, poor and unreliable service frequencies, longer wait times...) still seems to be something that MTA's management has refused to recognize (maybe because so many bad service changes came from this management team????)...
