The Amazing Things the CB&Q Passenger Dept. Could Pull Off in 1964
There's a railfan group in Omaha that I'm a member of and they recently published some interesting stuff in their recent monthly newsletter.
Check out what the Burlington's passenger department was able to pull off in 1964 when people wanted to travel to Colorado Springs for a football game. The westbound California Zephyr on OCT 09, 1964 out of Chicago ran in THREE sections!
What a difference 60 years makes. Can you imagine Amtrak trying to do something like this today?
Check out where UP was offering a $18.00 round-trip fare from Omaha to Denver for football fans wanting to see a game in nearby Boulder.
I also included the page that has contact info for the Camerail Club if you'd like to join. Their annual dues are $5.00!
