I remember a convo with Rod McClure (UP hoghead and Portola Museum past prez)
about the branch and he said there were discussions with the railroad but they
were trying to decide wether to sell, lease or donate the line. Obviously not
much became of that though most likely his contact retired (or other)
and the thing died.

There is a potential for it to be used again. SPI sold that CoGen
to a buyer, who worked on it and got it fired back up. I'm not sure
who is the operator of the CoGen now.
