What I'd like to see is motion sensors that detect someone climbing the enclosure. That when they are inside, then electrifies the fence, and holds the perp until the cops show up and arrest them and prosecuted for organized theft as a felony for the total value of all the expensive bikes, with no bail.

But that sort of solution would probably engender lawsuits and, of course, the folks who hate law and order and/or cops, on both fringes, probably would not like it either.

This will help deter the simple and stupid thieves looking for "easy pickings", which is a big improvement on the current situation. Pasadena and the rest of the Gold line needs these at all of the current station, which still have no truly secure bike parking, or adequate video surveillance of the current bike parking.

So, I'll settle for cameras and post 9/11 security levels, with real personnel watching the cameras, like we used to have for a while on Metro to deter crime and things like bike thefts on Metro trains, violence, crime, and terrorism.

LA is not ready for the 2028 Olympics based on the crime numbers (although down slightly this year), or with the massive cuts to bus and rail operations, with the resulting losses in ridership, and had better start taking safety and security a lot more seriously in times like these.

But I'm told by some folks that I'm too old timey that way, mostly by folks who have naively foolish views about the natural goodness of the bipedal hairless chimps, and, of course by the tiny minority who eschew the rule of law and hate cops, we sometimes see evidence of on AP.

Folks using bikes to connect to rail tend to ride a lot less when it rains, but a cover for those who do, would be nice.
